Basic hand helds

These units do not support internal maps and are not very good for navigation along a route. Their main function is to direct you to way points or GPS coordinates. These units can be used for navigating our Recommended Loops but they can be difficult because the do not have an internal map.

Basic Mapping Hand Helds

These units come with a basic internal map and have the ability to upload Map Source Topo Maps either via USB cable to internal memory or some via memory card. They are perfect for following our Recommended Loops as our track files will overlay onto the internal map giving the user a better point of reference to navigate from. They are a rugged design and the GPSMAP 62 series is our top choice for off road data logging and endurance navigation.

Mapping Hand Helds with Custom Maps

These units are the cream of the crop. They support Custom Maps - a feature from Garmin that allows the user to upload digital copies or scans of maps into the unit. This means the unit can display highly detailed maps, which have even more detail than standard Map Source Topo maps.
