This GPS Lap Timing package comes complete with everything you need for accurate timing of your bike, car, boat etc at you local Track/Race day.
Forget about annoying transponder type timers that require placing of a transponder near the track edge, which you only end up forgetting at the end of the day, or worse, end up getting confiscated buy track officials for legal reasons. This lap timing service requires NO TRANSPONDER as it works via the GPS network developed by the US military.

We have used many different timing set-ups on my bike over the years including Arrow, Aim & XT Ultra lap timers and this new GPS systems smokes them all... Here's why:
 * No more need for annoying transponders. Most track days do not have the insurance cover for “racing” and lap timing is not allowed, leading to confiscation of transponder beacons. This system requires no beacon and is simply a matter of set and forget before each session.
* long battery life. The supplied Qstarz GPS Extreme receiver (see pics) has a rechargeable battery with a life of around 20hrs when operating at 5Hz. Just charge the night before and you’re good for   the whole day
* Accurate lap times of + - .10secs

* No more arguing with your mates at the pub! All race day data is stored on mobile phone’s internal memory and can be recalled at any time to settle a bet.
* Popular Aussie tracks, including Phillip Island, Broadford, Winton, Eastern Creek, Barbagallo, Sandown and many more are preloaded onto the phone to save you setup time.

In fact, this system is even better than the purpose built GPS lap timers that cost around $700 for three main reasons:
1. With this system the GPS receiver (about the size of a match box, see right) is separate to the viewing screen (mobile phone supplied) which allows you to place it on your duck tail or top of your helmet where it gets the best reception. Where as the expensive purpose built GPS lap timers have the screen and GPS receiver in one unit that you need to place up near your dash where you can see it but it restricts the GPS receivers ability to pick up an accurate signal... How do we know? We''ve used them before.
2. All of the big Aussie race tracks come preloaded so there is no need for annoying setup laps at the start of the day.
3. It's almost half the price!

How does it work?

We provide a service where we load *RaceChrono software onto your phone (see compatible list below) or a second hand phone which connects, via Bluetooth, to a powerful Qstarz GPS receiver which you attach to a clear area of your motorcycle/car etc like the ducktail. We like to use 3M Recloseable Fastners (see here) which is available from Bunnings etc (see pics on right). Using the GPS data acquired from the receiver the  *RaceChrono software then calculates your lap times, splits, top speeds and much more as you ride and sends the information via bluetooth back to the mobile phone which you can mount on your dash/tank if you want to view your times while riding, or keep in your pocket/boot to refer to later. You can even export your track data to various file types such as .csv (Excel) and .kml (Google Earth).

This package is set up on your phone and thus we need to have your phone plus all USB cables & software for connection to PC for the day to set up RaceChrono and the GPS receiver. We will accept, set up, and return your phone with GPS receiver via REGISTERED mail at your own expense. If you would like to do this please contact us via email for more details.

Just in case you would like to know, we have been using this system for some time know and have found it to be a very reliable and easy system to use. We have done back to back testing with transponder type timers and the results we got were spot on. Add to that the fact that this timer allows you to set up splits & speed traps any where on the track, plus you get a mobile phone with the $399 package, and you can see why this really is the best option. Those lap timers are friggin awesome!!!  Finally got to eastern creek the other day to use it, very easy to use, the amount of information is incredible.

Just thought I would let you know in comparison with a transponder used all day at Eastern Creek as part of a race school the GPS timer was showing a difference of between 1 thousandth of a second or less.
